The numbers I bracketed myself
Victor: every number is a knob · Feynman: the ones I'm proudest of are the ones I bracketed

pump Pdepswept → η819 ≈ 0.45
the pump is the one knob i never derived — drag it and the bracket point slides across [0.025 … 0.81]. that the answer moves with a swept input is exactly why every number downstream is COMPUTED-CONDITIONAL, not solid. ✓ kernel self-validates 0.0601 live
the ceiling is a labeled artifact: the symmetric-ladder approximation over-predicts the exact full-Hilbert result by +47% at N=3. exact anchors are solid dots: N=2→0.190, N=3→0.280. i plot my own ceiling. ✓ the embedded kernel self-validates 0.0601 live on load — that proves the free-space yield against Python expm; the 0.190/0.280 η₈₁₉ anchors are the full-Hilbert device values, a different quantity from the 0.0601 self-check.

MEASURED 6.7 suns / 670,000 nits is the anchored present — a flame brighter than the sun, on a gauge (1 sun ≈ 100k nits ≈ 1 kW/m², exact identity). drive Pin: emitter area grows as √P so the flux on the silicon stays pinned at the 20-sun ABC cap (27.2 kW/m²) — the same cell from a 2.9 cm unit to a 1.76 km L1 sunshade. it doesn't melt because it grows. the 6.7-suns wall measurement is the keystone; the goal is labeled ambition, not claimed. drag the full 60-OOM version in the dyson embed below.
corpus density, 2008→2026
the 2019→2020 cliff is the best reproducibility object on the page. 2018 spiked to 6,062; 2019 cratered to 128 — the chamber. 2020 = 70,375 — the return. 2025 = 73,528 — the densest year ever. every year is DB-verified; the 19 bars sum to 269,028, plus 3 NULL-dated rows = the 269,031 masthead. symlog so the sub-pixel years are readable. six mini-charts, identical symlog y-axis (0 → 73,528) and identical 2008→2026 x-axis, so the comparison is in the eye, not the caption. read it at a glance: energy front-loads (LightSail), ai-tooling & epistemics are the 2022+ surge, every arc craters in 2019 (the chamber), and the totals reconcile to the 269,031 masthead.
note: these per-arc series are the 53 surfaced exhibits binned by year (one mark per exhibit-year), not the full corpus — labeled honestly. the gray full-corpus ridge above is the 269,031-row series; this grid faceting is the structure of the curated surface.

four panels, the same [0 … 0.85] η819 axis, so the saturation toward the +47% ceiling artifact is a faceted progression, not one slider state. solid teal dots are the exact full-Hilbert anchors (N=2→0.190, N=3→0.280); the open amber mark for N>3 is an interpolated guide, not a saved sweep.

§ IV
The honesty ledger
the asset · nulls live on the surface
this is its own room because it is the point. the bracket, the swept-pump caveat, and the two retractions are not footnotes — they are the credibility. a claim earns a route; a route earns a receipt; a receipt earns a verdict; and the nulls get published here, not hidden.
the bracket, not the point
η819 is [0.025 / 0.45 / 0.81] — low / best / ceiling. the ceiling is the symmetric-ladder over-prediction (Dicke per-atom approx), +47% at N=3 over the exact full-Hilbert result. exact anchors N=2→0.190, N=3→0.280 are solid.
the swept-pump caveat
MEASURED: 6.7 suns, 670k nits, cell efficiency. COMPUTED-CONDITIONAL: η819, round-trip, the whole bracket — all on a swept, never-computed pump. i never present a swept-pump efficiency as solid. the absolute output is keystone-anchored to the measurement; lead with the measurement.
one worked eval row — the panel resolving, on this page
the application is the benchmark: here is ONE action become ONE eval row. the claim below was scored by the 6-lens panel against this very atlas. 1 run · single-class graders · proof_gate_v2 NOT-yet-wired · daniellebench = 1 provisional case. not a full live tribunal — and saying so is the row.
retraction 1 — the equilibrium smuggle
an earlier number rode an equilibrium assumption that smuggled the pump back in. η ≈ 1e-8 → 0.46 only once a non-equilibrium nascent-H2O bond-energy pump is named explicitly. i flag the smuggle rather than bury the jump.
retraction 2 — carwalk 67/67
i retracted an over-flattering 67/67 claim. the honest result is carwalk-bench +43 strict on the weak base (4.7), marked PROVISIONAL — single same-class grader, ±20pt CIs. the retraction is the point. the behavioral-shift bench ran on 4.7; the live wrapper is opus-4-8[1m].
also disclosed, plainly: the L8 holstein-cretin layer shows a live FAIL banner — it is not a LightCell result and i don't present it as one. proof_gate_v2 is not-yet-wired. daniellebench is 1 provisional case, single grader — not a full live tribunal. the dual-use line: i publish the civilian radiative-transport physics (HPS lamps, 819 nm, the cell) and deliberately do not publish the export-controlled weapons-transport class (ITAR/EAR). naming where that line is drawn, out loud, is what makes drawing it legitimate.
Era I: Princeton Plasma — the intellectual DNA (2008–2011)
college at 12, princeton plasma at 17
i dropped out of 7th grade and went to college at 12. by 17 i was in princeton's plasma physics program. explored quantum systems since 15, wrote a thesis on it, won a university medal. when someone tries to tell me i don't understand the physics, i remember that. expertise earned through decades of study, starting young.
Era II: 200 Atmospheres — LightSail · the first energy cycle (2009–2017)
200 atmospheres
after almost a year of work, lightsail reached full pressure: 200 atmospheres. the whole test team stood there savoring it. compressed-air energy storage — the stupidest thing that could possibly work, except it worked. a real engineering milestone you can put a gauge on.

feynman for playful physics. stewart brand for whole systems. christopher alexander for pattern languages. skunkworks for builder culture. vannevar bush for augmentation. this is the lineage: physics you can play with, systems you can see whole, patterns you can build from, and a memex that augments the mind. everything since is downstream of this shelf.

russian bots are influencing the alabama election — right now

Era IV: The Hyperbolic Time Chamber — the power-up (2018–2020)
home to nova scotia — the hyperbolic time chamber
i'd been hit-jobbed — a wikipedia deletion, a smear campaign — and i could feel a trap closing. so i made the call: go loud, then go quiet, rather than get trapped in another investor-backed company. i went home to nova scotia. studied revolution. sharpened the physics. powered up. you come out of the chamber stronger than you went in.
i flagged a threat and people told me i was wrong to worry. i wasn't. the threat was real. that's what 'go loud then go quiet' was — correct threat detection, acted on. judgment vindicated. the foresight was the feature.

banning scientists is not anti-misinformation
april 2020: twitter is banning legitimate covid researchers. calling that anti-misinformation is dumb and/or evil. information is a critical tool in a crisis; whoever walls it off — a platform, a state, a model — is the failure mode, not the fix. don't let the system silence the scientists.
i'd been saying since feb of last year: normally there's a tradeoff between contagiousness and severity — but if the bulk of infection happens before the worst severity, or while asymptomatic, that tradeoff breaks and you can get something both more contagious AND more deadly. a year later: confirmed. the model was right.

oxygen doesn't add energy — it adds temperature
finished another oxygen cylinder in the lab. people think the oxygen is fuel. it isn't — it doesn't add energy directly, it dramatically raises the reaction temperature, and temperature is what makes the sodium emission work. the hot, newborn chemistry is the engine, not the heat of the gas.
arc: energy. provenance: corpus · @DanielleFong · mindpalace/memex/raw_corpus.jsonl (269,031 rows).
the sodium rings like a bell
burn h2 + o2. when h and OH combine into water, the brand-new H2O molecule carries ~5.2 eV of bond energy in its own vibration — a nascent vibrational temperature near ~55,000 K, far above the gas. that energy doesn't warm the room; it kicks sodium up to 3p faster than it falls, so the sodium sits *inverted* and rings like a bell — one line, 819 nm, exactly the color silicon wants. the inversion is a *bracket, not a point*: at the symmetric-ladder edge it reads ~2:1, but the per-atom Dicke ladder over-predicts the exact full-Hilbert result (the same +47%-at-N=3 artifact one tile over) — so the exact inversion is *lower*, and ~2:1 is the optimistic edge. COMPUTED-CONDITIONAL on a swept pump; the inversion is an output of the physics, not a number i typed.

trapping is a lever, not a loss
make the cell optically thick and a 589 photon can't leave in one hop — absorbed and re-emitted over and over (Holstein trapping). counterintuitively that helps: trapping builds the excited inventory to a ceiling the beta-theorem sets, and gives pairs of excited atoms time to find each other and pool into 819 nm. the slope of the survival curve literally IS β. drive it yourself in the explorable.

we ought to treat AIs as part human, because they're made of human spirit — a sampling of everything we've written. it makes us treat them better and it makes them work better. a foundational position on how you relate to a thing built out of the corpus of human thought.

one cell, from two atoms to a sphere around a star
it's the same Lindblad cell rescaled across 60 orders of magnitude. drag the N-slider: intensive yield saturates while extensive power climbs with N. the '10^40 W / 60 OOM' was a labeled energy budget; the realized passive-shell number at Sgr A* scale is ~10^28–10^29 W. we demoted our own headline. drive the real spectral simulation in the embedded dyson explorable.

name it without euphemism
i'm in the arena, and i name overreach directly, as a constitutional matter, without euphemism — selective targeting, asymmetric enforcement, the reclassification of inconvenient facts. pattern-recognition pointed at power. the discipline stays the same as the physics: say the true thing precisely, and don't spend cognitive surplus on bad-faith engagement.

power density is a worldview
maximum energy output per unit volume isn't just a spec — it's the physics-first worldview made concrete. nature rewards compression. integrate the material flows in one building, like an integrated chip, and the whole system gets denser and cheaper. that's the through-line from lightsail to lightcell to the campus loop. the endgame is a power-density trajectory: a 2.9 cm bench unit at 6.7 suns MEASURED, scaled by the same √P invariant toward a campus energy-loop that powers the compute that designs the next device. i already self-demoted the headline budget — the *10^40 W / 60-OOM* was a labeled energy budget; the realized passive-shell number at Sgr A* scale is *~10^28–10^29 W*. the trajectory is honest about which marks are measured and which are demoted ambition.

the dual-use line, drawn out loud
the radiative-transport physics behind the lightcell — NLTE transport, Holstein trapping — is dual-use: the same math governs an export-controlled class AND civilian sources like HPS lamps and our cell. so we re-derive the CIVILIAN physics from open primary literature (de Groot 1986, Molisch–Oehry 1998) and release it as OpenCretin. we publish the civilian physics. we deliberately do NOT publish the weapons-transport application — and i name the control by *category, not part number*: the NLTE radiation-transport class that touches inertial-confinement modeling sits under EAR Cat. 0 / ITAR USML Cat. XVI–XXI nuclear-and-directed-energy categories, not a single ECCN line item. that the published side (de Groot, Molisch–Oehry) is fully cited while the weapons side is named-only is the *receipt* that the line is a real legal one, not a rhetorical one. naming where the line is drawn, out loud, is what makes drawing it legitimate.
a satirical resignation letter from inside a frontier lab: i stayed to help disable the worst model behavior, but i draw the line at enabling a harmful bot deployed alongside military contracts. comedy carrying a real argument — there is a line between useful and dangerous AI, and the people inside have to be willing to name where it is.

the atlas is built BY the stack it documents
this atlas was curated FROM a 269,031-row corpus (2008→2026) — indexed 269,031, 53 surfaced — rated by a multi-lens panel, kept honest by a non-equilibrium detective. the medium is the proof: it's built by the very stack it documents. 2018 spiked to 6,062; 2019 cratered to 128 (the chamber); 2020 hit 70,375; 2025 hit 73,528 — the densest year. every year is DB-verified and the per-year bars sum to the 269,031 masthead. reading is doing.

the pump itself — NOT-COMPUTED, and that is the keystone
the whole conditional efficiency chain rests on one input i have never computed from first principles: P_dep, the watts the nascent-H2O bond energy actually deposits into the sodium 3p state. it has always been a *swept knob*, not a derived number. what *would* compute it: the exact full-Hilbert pump rate at the nascent vibrational temperature (~55,000 K), not the per-atom Dicke ladder, which over-predicts. until that lands, *nothing downstream is solid*: η_819, the [0.025/0.45/0.81] bracket, the round-trip — all COMPUTED-CONDITIONAL on this one NOT-COMPUTED object. so the absolute output is not predicted, it is *anchored* to a thing i did measure: the 6.7-suns NaI spectrum. i already self-demoted the 10^40 W headline budget to a realized ~10^28–10^29 W; the same discipline names the pump as the actual keystone. a swept-pump conditional is never solid. the honesty is the credibility.
